I've had a bit of a tidy up on the website. All of last years news has been archived, which can be viewed here. I have also fixed the link to the FAQ which stopped working for some reason.

I am pleased to announce that the website is back up and running and everything is working as well as it used to.

This is yet another minor revision to Get IP. This version adds an option to display both your hostname and IP address together in the System Tray ToolTip. It also updates the links to the Glynsoft and Get IP website, and the Get IP help files so you wont be directed to the old website.

Hope you all have a fantastic Christmas! Remember not to fill yourself up on turkey - you need room for the chocolates :-)

Your first Christmas present this year is a new home for Glynsoft - glynsoft.com. The reason for this is because Glynsoft has grown from a few hits a day, to several hundred a day, so I decided to make life easier for everyone and get a domain. Although www.glynsoft.cjb.net still works, www.glynsoft.com will be the new address, which is much easier to remember.

Don't forget to update your bookmarks!

Along with a new domain name, I have also purchased some hosting for the site. This hosting has many advantages, but I won't bore you with the details. Basically, it should allow the site to be more interactive, but most importantly of all, it will be a lot faster.

Although I would not prefer to have adverts on the site at all, domain names and hosting come at a cost, which is why you see the adverts at the top of each page. Don't worry though, because I chose these adverts because they are text based so load very quickly, and don't interfere with the site layout as much as most adverts.

The web site is now hosted on a new server. Not only is it faster than before, but it also offers some technologies which will allow the web site to interact differently. You might not notice many changes when surfing it, but these technologies will allow me to create a faster web site for everyone.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused during this changeover.

Although the site doesn't look like it's actually Christmas, this is not through choice. I've been very busy at the moment so the time hasn't been there to make it look nice and festive.

Anyway, I hope everybody has a Merry Christmas and an excellent new year. All I ask if that you don't drink too much. Or am I asking too much there? :-)

As you already know, i've been very busy lately, but I can assure you work on Glynsoft has not stopped. I'm currently working on a new revision of Get IP, which will add a few extra touches, and a new feature or two. The number of features I add depends on how many pressies I get for Christmas :-)

I can also tell you that work on a new Glynsoft program has started. Details will remain secret for a long time to come i'm afraid, only two people on this planet know what they are! All I can say is that you'll probably find it very useful, but there again I would say that wouldn't I?

It seems that quite a number of people are experiencing problems when opening the options menu in Get IP. If you are getting an error message saying Comct232.ocx is missing then you should install Get IP 1.52.

Note: If you are not experiencing the problem mentioned above you do not need to install Get IP 1.52.

A nice little guy called Ahn Byong-Gil notified me of a bug in Get IP 1.5 that stops Get IP from saving the "When Get IP has loaded..." statement correctly when you select 'exit'. This new version fixes this small issue.

After 3 beta versions, being re-programmed from scratch and a private beta release it is finally finished! So, what's new you might ask? Well for a start it was re-programmed from scratch, which should make it easier for me to find and remove bugs, and add extra features. It also uses Windows XP style controls, and all the known bugs from the beta version have been squashed. There is more too which I've listed on the Get IP website.

After you have downloaded Get IP 1.5 please send me your comments. Your comments will make Get IP a much better program. You can either email me your comments, or post them on the Glynsoft forum.

The mailing list subscribers have been using Get IP 1.5 for a week already now. Why? Because they get all beta and final versions a week before everybody else. That's one of the many advantages of being a mailing list subscriber. I've now finished the final version of Get IP 1.5. It's currently going through a private beta stage to make sure it is totally bug free after I rebuilt it from scratch. I'm putting the finishing touches to the program now, and then building the help files. So, give me a few weeks and it should be ready for download!

With the release of Get IP 1.5 I will be changing the Glynsoft website. The change wont be a bit one, just small updates here and there which should make it easier to navigate.

After releasing Get IP 1.5 Beta 2, I was sure that all the bugs had gone. Sadly, this wasn't the case. Kretze from the forum found yet another bug (well done to him) and while fixing that bug, I discovered another. These bugs are slightly more severe than the bug that was fixed in beta 2. I high recommend you download this version.

Hopefully there are no more bugs in Get IP 1.5 now, and you will get a better idea about Get IP 1.5. You can download it from the downloads section.

I've now released Get IP 1.5 Beta 2! This version basically fixes the bug that causes Get IP to crash when you set the program to copy your 2nd (or 3rd etc) IP address automatically. This bug also occured if you had your 2nd (or 3rd etc) IP address selected in the 'When Get IP loads... Copy IP address' section of the options menu.

Hopefully this fix will allow you to get a better idea about Get IP 1.5. You can get it from the downloads section.

Get IP 1.5 Beta Feedback

A big thanks must go to kretze in the forum who found a bug in Get IP 1.5 Beta. If you set Get IP to copy your 2nd (or 3rd etc) IP address automatically, the program will crash when you load it. This bug also seems to occur if you have your 2nd (or 3rd etc) IP address selected in the 'When Get IP loads... Copy IP address' section of the options menu. To solve this problem, never select any other IP address in that list box other than your first. If you can't open Get IP to make this change, start Get IP with the 'Reset All Options' shortcut, or the '-default' command line.

This isn't a very good solution to the problem, and I'm suprised this bug is actually in the program, but that is why it's a beta release, I couldn't be 100% sure everything worked correctly. This issue will be addressed in the next release of Get IP 1.5.

Beta feedback of bugs etc is much appreciated, so if you've found one, or would like to make a comment then you can do so in either the forum, or by contacting me using the contact page.

For some reason the forum doesn't seem to be working. I'll try and find out why and let you know as soon as possible.

As promised yesterday the beta version of Get IP 1.5 is now ready to download. It has many new features over the first version, the main one being that it can display all your IP addresses at once, and this information can be refreshed without closing the program. This is useful for modem users when they get disconnected. A full list of features can been seen on the Get IP page.

Later this week I will add a beta feedback page to the website where you can post your comments. Until I get round to doing that, please leave your comments in the forum. Thanks.

It looks like Bravenet are back up and running, so everything on the website should be working.

Bravenet seem to be doing some work on their servers, so most of our services are down. This includes the mailing list, FAQ and contact form. They shouldn't be down for much longer, but if you are desperate to join the mailing list or contact me then you can do so my emailing me webmaster@glynsoft.cjb.net . You can still use the forum which is working, I hope :-)

Well, the beta version of Get IP 1.5 is nearly ready. Just a few finishing touches to be made. This version has many improvements, like the ability to show all your IP addresses instead of just one.

Because Glynsoft hasn't been online for very long I shall put the download link on the website when its available. Future beta releases will be done only for those who are on the mailing list. Hint, hint :-) Click here.

This is the new Glynsoft website, so I hope you like it :-). So far I don't have a lot here, because Glynsoft is quite new, but I will be adding stuff as time goes by. The only thing you'll find here is Get>> IP, a small program which easily shows your hostname, IP address and port. If your a gamer then I suggest you check it out. Finding your IP address to host a game is always a pain.
